Music fades as lights on Minerva, centre stage.
She is standing on the pile of money.
Arachne in guise of spider crouches on the side, holding a ball of black wool. During Minerva's speech, she gradually spins a web around her, so that by the end Minerva is completely trapped.

Have you ever felt you were born for greatness? For the grand palaces of this world? Versailles, Pieterhof, the Reichstag... Well, I can tell you, you weren't. I was.

This play is loosely based on Ovid’s tale of the seamstress Arachne, turned into a spider by the goddess Minerva. It was commissioned by Write by Numbers theatre company, for their ‘Ovid Reworked’ festival, and was premiered in Brixton in 2010.
